Have you ever...

Really sat down and thought about the people in you’re life. How you met, when you met, and how you really, truly, feel about them? It’s a silly thing sometimes, when something in your life occurs and you have to step back and just think about it. Although I personally tend to over think things to an extreme. The past year, two thousand and eight, was a roller coaster of up’s and downs. It had started with the lowest of possible lows, did some loops, and ended with a sincere high, but with the inevitable heartbreak that always seems to come.
Sometimes I wonder if some people in my life care about me(or at least feel the same way about me) as much as I do to them. Actions and sayings seem to rarely coincide and it’s the most frustrating thing ever. Two thousand and nine will be the year that I state how I feel more often, and not keep anything inside. It’s not worth it to waste emotions and feelings on people, if they aren’t going to do the same. It’s simple to think about really, if the feelings are all out in the open, how will it all turn out in the end?

My New Job at J.Crew

yep! new job!

J.Crew is a great transition store from high school to college because of there more sophisticated yet young clothes. Also, they always have fun colors and patterns that are perfect for the modern college girl. And although some of there clothes are pricey, just wait a month or so and it will most likely be on sale!

I suggest visiting J.Crew's online store at jcrew.com or dropping into one near you. Not many people know about it but they offer a 15% discount to college students (and teachers) if you show your student ID and they always have sales going on! With the economy going the way it is, it's important to buy quality pieces that will last through the trends and months.

The Hair Diaries

Hair is an important beauty factor when it comes to any girl, especially one that is in college. Hair needs to be treated well. Some tips to keep your hair healthy, shiny and strong are as follows:
  • Any regular conditioner can be used as a deep conditioner. Just leave it in for about 5+ minutes while your shaving, ect.
  • Give your hair extra shine by turning the water to cold right before getting out. By running cold water through your hair you close the cuticle, which gives off shine.
  • Try to avoid using your blow dryer, straightener, ect. Major damage occurs with the extreme heat of these products. Try air drying your hair with a leave in conditioner, wavy, natural hair is back in!
  • Skip washing your hair every other day by using a dry shampoo on your scalp. My recommendation(and favorite) dry shampoo is Oscar Blandi Pronto

You can also use dry shampoo if your in a hurry to get to class or if you want to freshen up your hair in the middle of the day. This is a lifesaver for time in the morning.
Sephora carries two sizes of the Pronto, and at $11 & $19 each, it's by far a steal because it lasts forever. An aerosol formula of the Pronto is also available.
  • Using your conditioner on your scalp and head? Don't if your hair gets oily in the middle of the day. Use shampoo on your scalp and conditioner on your ends, ect. The wash-off from the shampoo is enough to clean the rest of your hair, and there's no need in drying it out! Even the best shampoos sometimes strip the hair too much.
  • Try to avoid putting your hair in pony tails. Major breakage can occur when it is tied up in the pony tail holder. If your hair is in your face, use bobby pins and a headband, not only is this a hair saver, it also looks chic and cute!
  • And as always, get a hair trim about every 6 weeks or so. By getting off the dead ends, your hair not only looks healthier, but it can grow to great lengths!

Ciao baby.

I've recently been inspired to re-decorate my bedroom. God forbid my hgtv and interior design obsession probably provoked. I've been feeling stressed out in my room and I need to cool down the deep maroon and darker colors.
Z Gallery has inspired me once again with these window panels:

and who doesn't love a new duvet cover?

I absoluty love wallpaper patterns, and it is a huge trend, as you can find it on almost everything. Remember, when decorating, to not go crazy with colors or patterns. Always stick to 2-3 accent colors and by basing big things with neautral colors, everything will seem to flow so much better. To make a room feel more luxurious, mix different textures to create depth and deminsion to the design.

Glow all year long

So let me start this week off with one of my newest and must have products that I recently discovered earlier this summer. With skin cancer warnings becoming way more apparent, it is important to stay out of the sun,and the sun beds, to not only prevent cancer, but to also prevent premature aging and everything bad that comes with prolonged exposure to the rays.

Xen-Tan is by far the best self tanner that I have ever used. Most people have never even heard of it, which really surprises me since it is so amazing. The color is beyond dazzling, a deep, natural olive tone color, and it lasts for about a week, more importantly. It smells like cherry almond, which is the best scent experience with any self tanner I have used. It can be used on both the face and the body, which is always a plus!
As with any self tanner, you have to scrub your hands after application to avoid staining.
  • My advice is to put hand cream on before the self tanner so it does not sink into the skin.
  • Another point is when applying the tanner to your face, mix it with your face moisturizer to dilute the color, giving you a natural face glow.

With summer coming to an end, it's always nice to have that safe golden glow all year long. My recommended self-tanner is most definitely Xen-Tan!

Xen-Tan can be purchased at either;
  • HSN.com
  • Xen-tan.com
  • Nordstorm.com
